Retail trading is becoming more accessible through mobile applications, online brokers and digital analysis tools. Younger investors are particularly visible in this environment: an FCA review of trading applications found that 47% of UK trading-app users were between 18 and 34 years old.

This does not prove that Gen Z prefers automated trading. It does, however, help explain why rules-based tools are receiving more attention among traders accustomed to managing financial activity online.

Why Rules-Based Trading Is Attracting Attention

One example is Top Notch Forex, a platform founded by Benjamin, 29, whose approach combines automated tools with forex trading education. According to its documentation, the system is designed to analyze currency markets, monitor trends, manage risk and execute trades using predefined rules.

“The biggest challenge for retail traders is consistency,” Benjamin explains. “Even those with knowledge struggle to execute trades efficiently. Automation can reduce the influence of emotion on execution while allowing traders to understand the reasoning behind each decision.”

Rules-based execution can reduce the number of decisions made under immediate market pressure. It cannot remove emotion from trading entirely, as users must still choose their exposure, risk settings and whether a particular strategy is suitable for them.

Access and Transparency

The service is available without an additional subscription charge. The platform also allows users to view trade histories, track performance, and receive reports on completed activity.

These features may make an automated process easier to review and understand, but they do not indicate how it will perform under future market conditions. Access to the service also does not remove trading costs, execution risk or the possibility of financial loss.

The TNFX Telegram community now has more than 59,000 subscribers following Forex, Gold and Bitcoin trades. The platform’s public Trustpilot profile currently displays a score of 4.7/5. As with any review source, the score reflects individual positive customer experiences.

Automation Does Not Remove Responsibility

As automated tools become more accessible, the relevant distinction is not between institutional and retail traders. It is between using automation as a defined process and treating it as a substitute for judgment.

“Algorithmic trading is not a shortcut,” Benjamin emphasizes. “It’s about reducing emotional decision-making, applying tested strategies, and providing individuals with the tools to make informed, disciplined decisions consistently.”

Automated systems can apply rules quickly and monitor markets continuously, but they cannot predict every price movement or eliminate risk. Their usefulness ultimately depends on the underlying methodology, the quality of execution and the trader’s own approach to exposure.
